The Water Cat in Spain
The Blizzard of January 2016
Anticipated as THE storm of the past several decades and bestowed with such fearsome monikers as "Snowmageddon", the real deal did bring more than a respectable amount of snow with 50 gale force winds. Still, power outages were minimal, water continued running through our pipes, and the scenes were beautiful the next day. People seemed well prepared, having paid attention to non-stop warnings from the media about the need to be prepared. The most troublesome consequences may be time taken to get aspects of life beyond the household back in gear. On Monday, the federal and local governments remain closed, most restaurants and other retailers remain to be seen, the Metro system is on a minimal schedule, and who knows when schools will reopen.
